Zadar, Croatia has a youthful zeal, a rich architectural legacy dozens of nearby islands to explore. There are thousands of things to discover in this Roman-era city, but we would like to suggest reasons why you just have to come and see it for yourself.
1. SAS 2015
SAS provides a forum for sensor users and developers to meet and exchange information about novel sensors and emergent sensor applications. The main purpose of SAS is to collaborate and network with scientists, engineers, researchers, developers, and end-users through formal technical presentations, workshops, and informal interactions.
2. 3000 Years of History
Today Zadar is a preserved monument of various historical times and cultures that have placed their boundaries and visible outlines of their urban appearance. During its existence it was for many centuries the home of the Ilyrian Liburni and for 1000 years the capital city of Dalmatia. Rich in history, it is curently a focal point in civilisation, and most of all city with an unquestionable future: its accepted concept of development into an international, Mediterranean and Adriatic metropolis is being realised. It is a city with a rich Croatian national identity created in the present, wich successfully adheres to the newest trends in globalisation and informatisation.
3. Attractions
Two of Zadar's most noteworthy attractions are the Sea Organs and the Greeting to the Sun. The Sea Organ sculpture is seventy meters long and has thirty-five organ pipes built under the concrete; driven by wind and waves this organ creates harmonious notes at random. The Greeting to the Sun consists of three hundred multi-layered glass plates placed on the same level with the stone-paved waterfront in the shape of a 22-meter diameter circle. After what's deemed by many as the "world's most beautiful sunset", the solar powered lighting elements produce an exceptionally impressive show of light in the rhythm of the waves and the sounds of the Sea organs.
4. The World’s Most Beautiful Sunset
If you spend any amount of time in Zadar, someone will at some point tell you of a famous quote associated with the city. In May 1964, Alfred Hitchcock checked into Room 204 of the classic and now closed Hotel Zagreb on the waterfront in Zadar. From there the famed director opined that “The sunset of Zadar is the world’s most beautiful...". Zadar also manifests crystal-clear sea, picturesque landscapes, delightful architecture and countless hours of sunshine.
